Yom Shani, Monday

41 today! A year ago a fabulous birthday party at HUC-JIR in Jerusalem. Today is a day of trying to finish up school work because I'm off to Israel on the 24th! Let's here it for frequent flier miles...115,000 miles to get to Israel in business class. Now let's just pray that the world stays quiet over these holidays--they just raised the American color warning to Orange (which used to be my favorite color...now I think I prefer blue.) There are no terror warnings that I know of connected to blue.

So what's left: a history final here at home and a few other odds and ends. I'll be busy until the moment I leave and then hopefully will sleep all the way to Israel :)

Yom Shlishi, Tuesday

Still home sick. . .what fun! The weird thing is how being sick your metal faculties become a bit "unhinged." Perhaps that's one of the benefits of being sick; you don't have to work your head the way you've been working it!

We're getting close to the end of the first semester. Fortunately I think I'm ahead in most of my work...but we'll see. The most important thing is a full recovery and then the education can proceed apace.

At the end of this semester it'll only be 3.5 years to go!!! Woo-hoo...

And I'm turning 41 on the 22nd...a prime number....

One other number of note: tonight begins the 30th yartzheit of my father, Lazer Pesch ben Tzvi, who died on 15 Kislev 5734 corresponding to December 10, 1973.

Sunday night/Monday morning

Well, I have a bad flu which gives one plenty of time to sit around and sleep and sometimes even think about profound things, like what it's like to become a rabbi, what are the changes, what's the meaning in life, etc.

So when I feel better I hope to get back to posting on a regular basis. In the meantime, more chicken soup, please.
